The CEO of Portuguese oil and gas energy group Galp has resigned the company stated on Tuesday.
Filipe Silva stood down following a company investigation into an anonymous complaint about an alleged “personal relationship” between him and a company manager.
According to Portuguese media and Reuters, the Chair of Galp, Paula Amorim issued a statement saying that the executive was stepping down “for family reasons”.
The announcement of a new CEO to head the energy company will be made shortly says the statement.
On Saturday the online news source ECO reported that Galp’s Ethics Committee was investigating “a close and personal relationship” with a female executive who reports to the CEO.
Galp’s Code of Conduct requires personal relationships to be communicated to the company’s ethics committee when potential conflicts are involved.
Filipe Silva had worked for Galp for 12 years and was chosen as CEO in January, 2023 for a four-year term slated to end in late 2026.
