The sports retail chain Decathlon closed 2023 with profits of €931 million, an increase of 0.8% on the €923 million posted for 2022.
The sports articles retailer enjoyed a business turnover of €15.6Bn, reflecting an increase of 4.4% at a constant exchange rate.
Adjusted to exchange rates and the impact of closing down its stores in Russia, revenues increased 1.15% to €15.6Bn.
Last year, the French retailer sold €1.19Bn of products with an online share of 17.4% (17% in 2022).
Founded in 1976, Decathlon is one of the businesses owned by the Mulliez family office which also owns LeroyMerlin and Auchan. It has 1,700 stores and employs 100,000 in 78 markets, including Portugal where it has 41 stores employing 1,800.
In January, an American fund Realty Income Corporation bought four Decathlon stores in Portugal for €12 million.
