Bel Group takes control of Vasp for 4.5 million euros

The Bel group, led by businessman Marco Galinha, took control of Vasp, now holding 100% with the purchase of the remaining shares held by Cofina, in an operation worth 4.5 million euros, the companies announced.

In a statement sent to the Securities Market Commission (CMVM), Cofina states that, “following the statement released on August 11, 2023, on the exercise of the purchase option, by the company Palavras de Prestígio” of the Bel group, of the 333,000 registered shares, with a nominal value of 3.50 euros, which Cofina held in the share capital of VASP — Distribuição de Publicações and the issuance of a non-opposition decision by the Competition Authority, “the transaction was concluded on this date”.

In other words, “the effective sale of the 333,000 registered shares” held by Cofina, “for the consideration, paid in full on the present date, of 4,500,000.00 euros”.

The Bel group — a universe of companies with national and international representation operating in six business areas — has 21 years of experience in the area of ​​logistics and distribution.

“Vasp’s entry into the Bel group represents the consolidation of an area of ​​activity in a market where it wants to be a reference in Portugal, now ensuring efficient and effective work in the distribution of press and books, in favor of the right to information and culture, honoring Vasp’s past”, says in a statement the group led by Marco Galinha, also president of the Global Media Group, to which Diário de Notícias belongs.
