Article by: FLAD

You can now apply for Visiting Professor in the Department of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies at Brown University, Rhode Island. The call, a partnership between FLAD and Brown University, will cover the two semesters of the 2025/2026 academic year, and is intended to select two Portuguese professors (or residents in Portugal), one for each semester.

Those selected will have the opportunity to teach a semester course in English in the areas of History or Social Sciences (e.g. Sociology, Anthropology or Political Sciences), addressing contemporary Portugal, which may be extended to Portuguese-speaking societies and/or have an international comparative dimension. The final decision on the topic will result from discussions between Brown’s Department of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies and the selected candidate. Two applicants will be selected, one for the fall semester (September to December) 2025 and one for the spring semester (January to May) 2026.

The selected candidates will also be expected to follow and collaborate with the dynamics of FLAD, both at that University and in the relationship with other educational institutions and others in the New England region. Applications are open between August 1st and November 1st, 2024
